It's a beautiful day here in Chicago, Josh and I both do not have to work, and we're hosting a dinner party tonight. All good things. I'm trying to focus on the positive here to distract myself from the throbbing pain in my right shoulder and the back of my right thigh. Yesterday afternoon, I had to have two moles surgically removed, stitches and all, and ever since the Novocain wore off, things have been a little uncomfortable! Oh well... at least I can gross my friends out this evening with my battle wounds!
As much as I love autumn, I'm not sure I'm ready for it yet. I feel we barely got any summer here in Chicago. I guess that's why I'm committing myself to actively using our grill this weekend as much as possible (or rather, letting Josh be the grill-master that he is.) We're having four friends over tonight, and I'm pretty psyched to spend the day out and about at various markets picking up the goods for a great feast... I'm thinking I may have to try to replicate this salad my friend Lizzie made recently - it doesn't get much more summery than heirloom tomatoes, watermelon and feta. Other than that we need a lot of wine, a lot of meat, some peaches (because I feel compelled to center dessert around them this time of year), and, according to Josh, some bourbon (sure, why not?)
Have a most excellent holiday weekend! Use those grills...
Agreed! I feel totally cheated on Summer as well! :P We also are cracking out the grill tonight. Good call on the peaches. I am now persuaded to pick up some seasonal fruit on my way home for a quick Crisp or something of the like. Maybe a Blueberry Crisp? YUM! Have a great time tonight!
